Im Dunkeln lauert das Unbekannte: Eternum Band 1: Der Sarkophag. Wir schreiben das Jahr 2297 und die Menschheit macht das, worin sie am besten ist: Rohstoffe abbauen. Allerdings nicht mehr nur auf unserem Planeten Erde, sondern in der gesamten uns bekannten Galaxie. Diese ist zum Großteil kolonisiert und bietet demnach viele Möglichkeiten, um an neue Rohstoffquellen zu gelangen. Doch beim Abbauen auf einem bestimmten Mond stoßen sie auf etwas, worauf niemand gefasst war.
Begegnung mit dem Unbekannten
Auf dem Mond Aldeman, auf dem Bergbau betrieben wird, stürzt nach einer unbedachten Aktion ein Minenschacht ein. Doch durch eben diesen Fehler wird der Weg zu einem verborgenen Artefakt hergestellt, welcher sich schnell als Horrorfund für die Arbeiter der Mine herausstellt.
In Eternum Bd. 1: der Sarkophag setzt der Autor Christophe Bec (u. a. bekannt durch Promotheus) absichtlich auf eine klassische SciFi-Erzählweise: Die Begegnung mit etwas völlig Unbekanntem für die Menschen, was Fragen aufwirft, die um jeden Preis erforscht werden müssen. Es entstehen dabei Momente, in denen man sich gerne an Alien oder 2001: Odyssee im Weltraum zurückerinnert, aber trotzdem das Gefühl hat, etwas völlig neues zu erleben. Die Geschichte selber ist von der ersten bis zur letzten Seite spannend und schürt die Lust auf mehr.
Berauschende Atmosphäre
Jedoch ist Eternum Bd. 1: der Sarkophag keinesfalls nur auf seine spannende Erzählung zu reduzieren. Auch der Zeichner Jaouen zeigt sich in Höchstform und bietet dem Leser ein gewaltiges Artwork. Hierbei ist vor allem hervorzuheben, dass Jaouen einen perfekten Spagat zwischen dem klassischen Hollywood SciFi-Stil und dem für ihn üblichen frankobelgischen Comic-Stil schafft. Diese beiden Stilarten gehen auf jeder Seite Hand in Hand und bieten dadurch optisch etwas völlig Herausragendes. Die Farbwahl des Buches variiert zu großen Teilen zwischen den Farben blau, grün und grau, welche gut in das Genre passen und sowohl die weiten Ausmaße des Universums, als auch die bedrückende Enge der Höhlen und Raumschiffe fabelhaft einfangen.
Eternum Bd. 1: der Sarkophag – Fazit
Es ist immer schwer, im SciFi-Genre etwas Neues zu finden, was die Leserschaft begeistern kann. Umso erstaunlicher ist es, was Christophe Bec und Jaouen mit einem alten Konzept erschaffen haben. Eternum Bd. 1: der Sarkophag bietet eine mitreißende Geschichte, wunderschöne Zeichnungen und lässt einen gespannt auf den zweiten Band warten, welcher voraussichtlich im Frühjahr 2017 erscheint.
